Why you should have a mentor while you can learn from online video courses?
A few years back, I was the person who loved to explore things on my own. I kept learning random things. First I started learning web development, after a few weeks I got tired. I stopped learning web development and shifted to YouTube. I started making videos and uploading them on the internet. YouTube career needs a lot of patience to start. I didn’t have that patience so shifted my career to SEO. Again I did the same and left that as well. I kept doing the same thing again and again. I couldn’t learn a single thing. This kept happening to me until I learned that I should have a mentor. In this blog, I will let you know why do we need a mentor.
Who is a Mentor?
A mentor is a person who went through the same issues that you are passing now. A person who faced a lot of issues and solved them. A mentor is a person who learned from the mistakes. A mentor is a person who is experienced in a particular field and know how things work and how to deal with issues and problems.
“Mentorship is a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person.”
Why do we need a Mentor?
In order to get the answer to this question lets imagine you are learning that how do we create a mobile application. You opened YouTube and search that how do we create a mobile application and came to know that you can develop mobile applications using Flutter. You chose a course and started learning Flutter. In the lesson, the instructor did the coding and made a pizza ordering mobile application. You followed the exact code of the instruct but ended up with a lot of bugs. You got stuck and don’t know how do I solve these bugs. You searched on YouTube and google but didn’t find any proper answer. You can’t even contact the instructor from whom you started learning. You will end up switching your career to anything else.
Imagine if you had a mentor teaching you the same project. He would have been available to you whenever you needed him. He could have saved you while making these bugs or had helped you solve them. He would have taught you the method that can be used to solve the bugs or issues for the future.
It is mandatory to have at least one mentor in life. A mentor is someone who can help you to map your career to success. A mentor can help you with every problem you face. A mentor can help you save years of life struggling to reach your destination.
Please if you don’t have one then go and find someone who can help you reach your destination. Find at least one mentor who can guide you on what to do and how to do it.
